CAMP DESCRIPTIONS
MULTI MEDIA ART
Each day, students will be learning about a new media form in this class, and the projects will range from fun tri-fold comics to found-object collages to 3D paintings! Kids will have a chance to express themselves any way they wish, and to experiment with media they've never used before. As they play, they'll learn the excitement of trying new things, and to trust themselves as they experiment and grow!
DRAWING AND PAINTING
In this camp, young artists will learn a variety of techniques for drawing and painting (working with high quality papers and canvas). We will go over art elements such as lines, shapes, color, value, texture, and space. We will work with a range of media such as fine-liner pens, charcoal, pastel oils, acrylic, watercolor, stamping, metallics, carbon paper, and more. We will encourage the children to think outside the box, helping them develop skills and confidence as they go, emphasizing that art is a process, not a cookie cutter product. We hope the kids will create pieces of artwork they can be proud of, and at the end of the week, we will frame their favorite piece for them to display at home.
MAKE A MOVIE!
In this camp, students will get to know the magic of a film set, whether it in front of the camera or behind! As a group, they will come up with their own story idea, and shoot their own short film, all while learning some basic fundamentals of filmmaking. Students will get to try their hand at acting, directing, and camera operation, both in our green screen studio and on location! They’ll learn how to tell a story through camera angles, and inspire emotion with lighting. They’ll learn how to work on a team while still fostering independent thought, as they experience
GAME WEEK
Family game night is about to get crazy! A homemade board game is just the thing to impress the family, and this camp will help your kids make one! Throughout the week, children will design their own game to take home and play. They will brainstorm, think of a theme (possibly finding inspiration in their favorite book or TV series?), they will create the rules, decide what pieces they will need and create every aspect of the game! From simple clay tokens to complicated cards and money, they'll do it all, and once the games are completed, we'll all take turns playing the games. There are many benefits of playing games, and those benefits dramatically multiply when it's a game they've made themselves. They'll learn skills like critical thinking, planning, time management, organization, and decision making. In this camp, they'll unplug from technology for a few hours and expand their vocabulary, increase their spelling skills, and lengthen their attention span. All while building friendships and leaning teamwork, as well as how to lose or win gracefully. We'll all go home winners!
HARRY POTTER CAMP
Magic is all around you and the magic of this camp begins even before the first day! Before arriving on Monday the children will receive their Hogwarts acceptance letter in the mail!! HOW EXCITING!!! Throughout the week, we will have Harry Potter inspired games and art activities. We will start the week off with house sorting, wand making, and an art project in their house colors. The kids will enjoy snack time in our own Great Hall, complete with floating candles and flying keys. There's something for every witch and wizard including making their own Howlers, Potions class, Charms class, a Triwizard cup scavenger hunt, 'Free Dobby' sock toss, even a game of Quidditch! On Friday, we will host a special 'trip' to Honeydukes where the kids will be able to sip on Butterbeer, taste a chocolate frog, catch a golden snitch, and if they dare, try the famous 'Every Flavor Bean'!
HARRY POTTER STOP MOTION
Continuing our Harry Potter theme for the week, we'll be doing Harry Potter Stop Motion Animation class! Students will get to create their own animated short film to share with family and friends featuring their favorite characters from the books and movies! We'll will introduce the basics of Animation, Story Structure, and Character Development while they create their own Harry Potter stories! We'll have Harry Potter LEGOs, or they can create their own characters out of paper or clay! It's the excitement of stop motion combined with the magic of Harry Potter!
STEAM WEEK
Who doesn't love learning through play? Let's explore through fun and exciting experiments and create some amazing science inspired art! Some experiments include making rainbow slime, bath bombs, fizzy rockets, chia pets, crystal creatures, as well as creating pop up cards, balloon rockets, marbled paper, sweet molecules, and more! We can't wait to help keep the love of learning alive through summer break!
TEXTILE AND FIBER ARTS
Fabrics, Felting and Fun, oh my! This week, kids will learn skills like basic sewing, needle threading, weaving, and tie dying in this super fun textile camp! We will be using a variety of media, from different fabrics like silk, canvas or felt, to beads, yarn and clay. By the end of the week, kids will have made an assortment of cool, unique creations, like puppets, monster dolls, friendship bracelets, picture frames, dream catchers and more!
ACTING CAMP I - IMPROV
In our introductory Acting camp, students will learn fundamentals of stage and film acting, using Improvisation as a way to sharpen their wits and think on their toes. Improv (as well as any acting training) helps kids learn creative problem solving and improves their oral communication skills, that will help them with school, as well as later in life. They'll learn basic Improv games that will help their confidence and mental flexibility. They'll learn the ultimate Improv rule "Yes, and...", and learn about teamwork and trust while we build scenes from simple suggestions.
INVENTOR'S CLUB
Calling all inventors! Let's use our imaginations to create something new using recycled items and building materials! Will your designs use clay, wood, paper mache, or cardboard? What about a variety of tape, or paints? Even found objects make wonderful and inspiring materials! If you can imagine it, you can create it!
ACTING CAMP II - STAGE
In this continuation of our summer acting series, the students will build on skills learned and get to try their hand at old fashioned stage acting. They'll improve their communication skills and self confidence as they learn the basics of speaking clearly, memorizing lines, and fully engaging in the imagination of being a fictional character. We'll work on duo scenes and monologues, skills they'll need if they eventually want to audition for school or community theater. "All the world's a stage", and your kids will love playing on ours.
ART AND NATURE
Your kids will love looking at the world around them to help inspire their creativity! This week, we'll create projects both inspired by nature as well as using materials found in nature! Activities may include pressed flower and leaf art, nature prints, found object art, and spiderweb art! We'll create garden additions like painted rock ladybugs, shell art, wire snails, wind-chimes, sun-catchers, even fairy homes and planter boxes! Nature never looked so good!
ACTING CAMP III - FILM
In the last part of our summer acting camps, we'll focus on acting for film, where students will build on skills like character development and vocal precision. We'll combine the art of acting with the technical side of filmmaking, and kids will get to see what it's like on both sides of the camera. They'll learn time management skills, and learn concentration and commitment, all while having fun working on a team to get a short film written and shot in a short amount of time. At the end of this camp, they'll be ready for their close-up!

STORY & ILLUSTRATION
This camp is all about story! Students will be writing original short stories and then illustrating them! We’ll be learning about the basics of story structure, and the joys of bringing a story to life using the media of their choice! They can write a funny story using colored pencil, a serious story using watercolor, or an adventure story using markers! Or maybe all three! Along with illustrating their stories, students will also read their story into a microphone, and with that recording, we'll create an animatic style video narrated by the student.
